Third Coast Dance Company, TCDC, will present “In The Blue Hour”, a modern dance performed by a company of professional dancers and 23 local dance students from Gratiot County on Saturday August 5th at 7:30PM and on Sunday, August 6th at 2:00PM in Shepherd.
During the month of July, TCDC artistic directors offered a free choreography intensive at Alma College where they worked with 23 eager students from diverse dancing backgrounds in our community to create a special dance for the students to perform on stage along side the professional dancers.
“In The Blue Hour” is about living life in a continually shifting state uncertainty and how we navigate it – chaos or order. Seven women in simple white costumes navigate the stage space trading roles, dancing together and apart, the result is an enigmatic dance that is brave, humorous, and hopeful. “In The Blue Hour” takes its cue from the the French expression “l’heure bleue” which is the period of twilight each morning and evening where there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness.
“In the Blue Hour” was choreographed by Kristen Bennett, one of the two co-founders of TCDC. Both Kristen and Lynn Bowman (co-founder) invite the whole family, whether you’re new to viewing dance or not, to this accessible and skillful performance will delight all the senses.
Best wishes to TCDC, DDD dancers and other area dancers in this beautiful event.
