“Commitment to Community”
At DuHadway Dance Dimensions we pride ourselves on giving back to our community through our time and talent. Our dancers perform and volunteer throughout our community. Many times our dancer’s parents are right there with their dancer volunteering their time, too!
It is an important mission for us that our dancers realize the power of their art form to evoke emotion and tell stories to everyone, everywhere, anytime. It is often the local performances that give our dancers the most joy. They feel intense pride helping people through dance and sharing their love of dance in performances for audiences of all ages.
In our very special partnership with Child Advocacy of Gratiot County we have provided dance experiences and performances which benefit the Child Advocacy program and the dancers equally. Thanks to our very generous parents for the gift of their dancer and their time that makes all this possible.
2015-16 Child Advocate Organization of the Year is DuHadway Dance Dimensions
DuHadway Dance Dimensions was chosen by our Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Committee as this year’s recipient of the Organization of the Year Award for their commitment to children, families, and service in Gratiot County.
You may not know this, but the children who attend DuHadway Dance Dimensions for dance lessons receive more than just an education in dance, they also receive an education in civic responsibility and service to their communities.
Here are a few things that DuHadway Dance Dimension or DDD does for our community
*Admission to the DDD Christmas party is a canned good or baby item for the Red Cross Baby Pantry.
*Dancers serve the meal at the baked potato and soup dinner at His Place during Come Home to Alma Christmas.
*DDD Staff, Parents, and Dancers stuffed 800 Goodie Bags for Luce Rd. as the major sponsor of Hillcrest’s Fun Run – spring 2015
DDD performs in:
*Maple Syrup Princess Pageant
*YAC talent show
*Child Advocacy Alumni Basketball Game
*Nutcracker during the Holiday Season at local schools in Gratiot, Montcalm, and Isabella Counties, local Nursing Homes, The Lights of Love ceremony at the Hospital, Come Home to Alma Celebration, and this year the Rotary Club holiday luncheon.
DDD Staff and Dancers volunteer their time at:
*Gratiot County Fair for Youth
*Hillcrest annual Fine Arts Day
*Child Advocacy’s 5K event
*Highland Festival Children’s Games
*Princess and Pirates Party fundraiser for Children’s Advocacy Center DDD provided the costumes AND the Princesses and Pirates who signed autographs, and gave beautiful performances for the children and families in the audience. DuHadway Dance Parents volunteered their time as well. 22 Volunteers and 9 Princesses and Pirates from DuHadway Dance Dimensions made our brand new fundraiser a HUGE success!!
*Child Advocacy and DuHadway Dance Experience Event. For the past 4 years the high school dancers have written a YAC grant to the Gratiot County Community Foundation to fund the Dance Experience project. Dance Experience is a FREE morning of dance taught by Senior Members of the DDD Elite Team. Priority is given to children in foster care, and then clients of the Department of Health and Human Services, EightCap, and our partner agencies, and then we open the event up to children in our local schools. 60-70 children are paired with a “Dance Buddy” from the Elite Team and they move through stations learning ballet, jazz, and hip hop. They make their own tu-tus or capes, have a snack, and watch performances. They take home a t-shirt and a certificate. It is a wonderful heartwarming event made possible by DuHadway Dance Dimension Staff, Dancers, and Dance Parents.
*Dance United. United Way fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our communities. This University-driven dance event sparks a friendly fundraising competition among CMU students, faculty, staff and members of the community as part of the University’s annual United Way campaign. DuHadway dancers perform and Jillian coaches a team participating in this competition.
So, as an organization we would like to recognize Rob and Jillian DuHadway along with the Staff, Dancers, and Parents at DuHadway Dance Dimensions as the 2015 Child Advocate Organization of the Year.
